About the Fund

We are thrilled to announce the establishment of the Bella Salazar Cenezero Legacy Fund in honor of Bella’s extraordinary contributions to the community. This fund is dedicated to supporting community-based activities and initiatives that engage PSS volunteers and group members, creating spaces for meaningful community conversations, learning, and action.

The Bella Salazar Cenezero Legacy Fund will empower and enable various projects that reflect Bella’s passion for fostering strong and connected communities through community development.

The funding is internal for PSS volunteers and group members that can apply annually for a funds of up to $1000+. The selection committee includes the Board with representation from one staff member. Donations to this fund can be made using the form below.

About Bella Salazar Cenezero

Bella Cenezero, a Registered Social Worker in BC and the Program Manager for Education and Support at Parent Support Services Society of BC (PSS), has dedicated 29 years to transforming the organization into a beacon of inclusivity. Her commitment to social justice has profoundly impacted immigrant and refugee communities, and she has been instrumental in establishing Parenting Support Groups in multiple languages, including Tagalog, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Punjabi, Farsi and Arabic.

Bella’s efforts have also extended to fostering partnerships with Indigenous Community Agencies, ensuring that Indigenous families receive the support they need.The Bella Salazar Cenezero Legacy Fund celebrates her remarkable contributions, honoring her unwavering advocacy for marginalized communities and her innovative approach to community development.

Bella’s work has empowered countless individuals and inspired others to champion social justice. This award serves as a tribute to her exceptional service and aims to motivate future generations to continue the pursuit of a more just and inclusive society.

Apply For Funding

The application is simple and low barrier. Applications can be made throughout the calendar year. The selection committee will review applications from January 1, 2025 with the winner announced on Family Day 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate dedication, experience, and active involvement required to be considered for the funding.

  • The applicant must be a volunteer or support group member with the organization.
  • The applicant must have been a PSS volunteer or support group member for at least one year.
  • The applicant must currently be facilitating or attending a support group.

How to Submit Your Application

1. Prepare Your Proposal

Aplicants must provide a detailed description of their project, including objectives, target audience, and expected outcomes. Outline how your initiative will engage PSS volunteers and/or Group members in the spirit of compassion, education, and community engagement. Include a budget breakdown and timeline for the project.

2. Complete the Application Form

Fill out the application form and send any supporting documents to office@parentsupportbc.ca.
Applications must be submitted by Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

Our selection committee will review all applications based on the alignment with the fund’s mission, the feasibility of the project, and the potential impact on the community. You may be contacted for additional information or clarification during the review process.

Applicants will be notified of the committee’s decision via email by Monday, February 17, 2025.
