31st Annual Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls March

Today was the annual Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls March, where many came together in downtown Vancouver to remember and honour the lives lost and those still missing. Indigenous women, girls, and gender-diverse people still face disproportionate amounts of violence, and today was also a time to call for justice and action.

During the march, a statue of “Gassy Jack” was pulled down. Many do not know the story behind the man who Gastown was named after. As with many stories, the experiences of Indigenous girls and women are forgotten or overlooked.
