Within the climate of respect, an effective advocacy process builds on four key elements:

Rights: are not earned; they are owned.
Information: having adequate information is a basic requirement of becoming an active participant in the system.
Voice: the voice of children, youth and their families is valuable; it is not a problem.
Inclusion: when everyone who “cares” or “should care” has a voice, better decisions will be made..
